What are Gentle Laser Hair Removal treatments like?
Lasers are a modern and effective way of reducing hair growth. The results are usually long lasting. Our amazing laser hair removal device uses high-energy, long pulse laser light. This is absorbed by the hair follicle and directed to the root of the hair.
The Gentle Laser is the best laser hair removal machine available. It has been developed to treat most hair and skin colours. This includes: red hair, fine facial hair and darker skin tones such as Asian and Afro-Caribbean.
How are the treatments delivered?
Laser energy is delivered through a small hand-piece operated by one of our experienced technicians. The laser delivers an intense beam of light. The laser energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and converted into heat. The heat deeply penetrates the hair follicle while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. You may experience some redness following the treatment. However this typically lasts from a few minutes to several hours after the procedure.
Your trained technician will perform a pre-treatment skin analysis (patch test and consultation). This is to check your tolerance to laser therapy. If the outcome is satisfactory you will be able to commence your Laser Hair Removal treatment at the next visit.
Are the treatments painful?
Gentle Laser Hair Removal treatments use a patented Dynamic Cooling Device TM (DCD TM). This prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of Cryogen. This happens just milliseconds before the laser pulse ensuring that Gentle Laser Hair Removal treatments are as comfortable as they are effective.
What precautions should I take?
During your course of Laser Hair Removal, we advise that you avoid sun exposure. The timings are for four weeks before and after treatment. This includes any sun tanning beds or machines. If your skin is exposed to these rays, it may cause white pigmentation. This can last for around 3 months depending on your skin type.
Please see our Laser Precautions and Aftercare Instructions for more information. You will be given a copy of this at your initial consultation/patch test.
Laser cannot be done if you have a tattoo as this will react to the laser and cause burns.
How should I prepare for my initial consultation?
Please do not use any products, makeups, perfumes on the treatment area. Please also shave the area you wish to have treated as a patch test will be performed. This is an important step to prepare for the patch test to keep you, the client, safe and comfortable. A patch test is when a few bursts of the laser are applied to a small area of the skin (i.e. like a small treatment) so that we can see for any negative reactions you may have to the treatment.
How long do the treatments take? How many will I require?
Treatment times may vary depending on your specific needs. Hair growth is reduced after each treatment which are given every 4 to 6 weeks. The number of treatments required will be based on your hair colour and type, body area and skin tone. It is worth noting that treatment is only effective on hairs with a pigment. This means laser treatment will not work on light blonde, white or grey hairs.

Laser Hair Removal vs IPL
What is the difference between IPL and Laser?
IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. IPL is a form of hair removal. The energy is produced by a lamp in a variety of waves. This means that it is more diffused and less powerful than a laser.
A laser is an intensely concentrated beam of light. The energy is extremely focused and penetrates deeper than IPL. Laser are also very precise which therefore leads to more powerful treatments. In addition you get more accurate and effective results.
Why is Laser better?
- Lasers use the exact wavelength needed to effectively treat the hair in each pulse.
- Lasers can be used for large areas.
- Our treatments can be customised to your specific skin tone and hair colour.
- It is not as painful as other treatments such as electrolysis or waxing.
- Lasers permanently reduce the hair growth in the treated area.
- Lasers will generally require less treatment sessions than IPL to achieve desired results.
Some salons and clinics use IPL as it is far cheaper compared to laser machines. However, here at Park Private Clinic we insist on the very best technology for all of our customers. This enables you to achieve the best results possible. That is why we have taken time to acquire only the very best laser hair removal machine. We would never settle for average results and neither should you!
